A personal injury claim is a claim for compensation resulting from an accident. The critical element is that the accident results from someone else’s actions or a lack of due care (particularly in the workplace). A personal injury claim is a process of claiming monetary recompense to cover the trauma of your injury (both mental and physical). It can also cover any resulting care required, such as physiotherapy or long-term care, and other financial losses such as loss of earning potential.
The nature of the claim will entirely depend on the type of injury you’ve sustained. It will also depend on the accident itself.
Many accident compensation claims experts offer a ‘no win, no fee’ service. This means that if you don’t win your case, you won’t get charged legal fees. If you do win, your personal injury solicitor will take a percentage of the compensation awarded by the court.
Your fees will only be deducted when the compensation amount is paid out, so you’re never out of pocket. You won’t be charged any upfront costs. You may be asked to arrange insurance before proceeding to cover any potential financial losses.
The first thing to do is to talk to an expert. At BBS Law, we are here to talk to you about every aspect of making a claim. We will listen to your side of the story and tell you honestly if we think you have a case. We’ll then take you through each step of the process and keep you involved at every point.
There are five steps to making a personal injury claim. We will be right there with you at every step to guide you through the process.
If you’ve had an accident that wasn’t your fault, the first thing to do (once you’ve received the medical attention you need) is talk to one of our team. They’ll explain your options to you and allow you to decide in your own time whether you want to pursue the matter.
During the consultation period, your injury claims expert will look at all the evidence. They’ll examine medical reports, witness statements and police reports (if relevant). They may arrange for further assessments to determine the nature and extent of your injuries. They’ll also assess the longer-lasting effects, including whether you need additional treatment or long-term care.
Once all the information is collated, your solicitor will submit the claim for compensation to the other party (the defendant). This sets the formal process in motion.
At this point, the defendant may accept liability for the accident. There will then be a series of negotiations between your solicitor and the defendant’s legal team to arrange compensation. If they deny responsibility, the case will progress to a court hearing. This is rare but can happen, especially in more complex medical negligence cases.
Once the claim is settled, you’ll receive your compensation. Your legal fees will be taken from the final amount. If you lose your case and have taken a ‘no win, no fee’ option, you’ll pay nothing.
It depends on the case. Complex cases can take months or even years to resolve, especially if the defendant denies responsibility for the accident. However, more straightforward cases should progress quickly. The most important thing is to seek legal advice as soon as possible. Remember, you only have a limited amount of time from the date of the accident to put in a compensation claim.
From accidents at work and medical negligence to collisions on the road, accidents cause both physical and mental trauma. Every accident is different, so at BBS Law, our injury claims specialists never adopt a ‘one size fits all’ approach. We treat every case on its merits, ensuring that you always feel like a human being and never just a number.
Your accident claims solicitor will be with you at every step of your journey. Once you initiate a claim, we’ll guide you through the process, giving you the advice you need to achieve a successful outcome.
While our solicitors can tackle the legal aspects of an accident at work claim or compensation for a road accident, we need you to be a part of the process, and we want you to feel involved throughout. We’ll ask you to help us with gathering information on the accident and liaising with your medical team and primary care providers, working together towards a solution. From medical records to at-the-scene pictures, even a single remembered detail could make all the difference to the outcome of a personal injury claim.
Anyone can claim compensation if they’ve had an accident that they believe resulted from someone else’s negligence. You can claim if:
Road traffic accidents – One of the most common injury claims is road traffic accidents. Whether you’ve been involved in a car crash, a motorcycle accident, or are a cyclist or a pedestrian, our traffic accident solicitors can help.
Accidents in the public domain – A slip on a wet floor, a trip over a broken inspection cover, or a fall on a public stairway or escalator: if your accident could have been prevented, we’ll help you get the compensation you deserve.
Accidents at work – The workplace should be a safe environment for everyone. If you have been injured due to poor practice or a failure of your employer’s duty of care, you may be entitled to compensation. Workplace accidents include everything from burns and exposure to chemicals to falls from height.
Public liability – If you’ve been injured due to a poor quality product (for example, a burn from a substandard electrical product), our product liability solicitors may be able to help you make a claim.
You have every right to make a personal injury compensation claim if you’ve been injured. At BBS Law, we believe that everyone who suffers from an accident that wasn’t their fault is entitled to financial compensation.
Injuries suffered in road traffic accidents or at work can be life-changing, resulting in long-term care and treatment. That’s why we take every case seriously, no matter how big or small.

During a very difficult period in our business, we had to seek the help of a professional Law firm. We selected BBS Law Ltd following initial calls with Andrew Haffner and the Litigation Team. The support and unbiased guidance given by Andrew and the team guided us through many nightmare events. The extensive knowledge and professional support given to the complexities of the problem were well understood by BBS Law Ltd.
I instructed David Bondt of BBS Law to deal with a complex intellectual property dispute. The other side were trying to be overly aggressive, but David and his team were able to deal with the situation professionally and robustly on my behalf. Needless to say, BBS Law obtained a very favourable outcome for us and gave very clear and concise advice to me throughout the case. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the litigation team at BBS Law.
